Get partner access to a client's Facebook Page

Access granted automatically

Add Facebook Page to the onboarding link and the client picks the Page in the same Meta dialog as their ad account. Your business portfolio is assigned as a partner on the Page with the task access you chose — content and messages by default — so your team can post, reply and run ads from it.

Facebook Pages at a glance

How access is granted
Automatically. Your business portfolio is assigned as a partner on the Page.
Access you can request
Content and messages by default; view-level links ask for insights only. Full control is never requested.
What your client needs
Full control of the Page, in a business portfolio or on their own profile.
Pages outside a portfolio
Supported. Meta handles those through a separate permission, which is only requested when needed.

What your client does

On the onboarding link you send. No password is ever asked for or shared.

  1. 1

Opens the link and clicks Connect next to Meta.

  2. 2

In Meta's dialog, ticks the Page (and ad account, if the link asks for one).

  3. 3

Confirms, and sees Facebook Page marked Connected.

What happens on your side

  • Your business portfolio is assigned as a partner on the Page with the task access you picked.
  • Connected accounts names the Page and shows Added.

Sharing a Page with a partner by hand

  1. 1

Open Business settings for the portfolio that owns the Page.

  2. 2

Under Accounts, choose Pages and select the Page.

  3. 3

Click Assign partner, enter the agency's Business ID and choose the task access.

  4. 4

    Save.

For a Page that isn't in a portfolio, the Page's admin can add a person from the Page's settings under Page access instead.

Exactly what we ask Facebook Pages for

A link only requests the permissions the platforms on it need. Nothing here is used for anything other than the reason next to it. More on how we handle access.

PermissionWhy
pages_show_listLists the Pages the person manages so they can pick one.
pages_manage_metadataManage links only: assigns your business as a partner on a Page that isn't owned by a business portfolio, as Meta requires for that case.
business_managementManage links only: assigns the partner on a Page owned by a business portfolio.

Removing access later

  1. 1

Business settings → Accounts → Pages → the Page → Partners → remove the agency.

  2. 2

End the reporting connection from Onboarding → Connected accounts, or the client removes Agency Pilot under Facebook Settings → Business integrations.

If something doesn't work

The Page isn't in the dialog

The person connecting doesn't have full control of that Page. The Page's admin should open the link.

It asks the client to reconnect

They connected before the Page was added to the link. Reopening the link and connecting Meta again shows the new asset.

Facebook Pages: common questions

Is Instagram included?
The link shares the Page. If you manage the linked Instagram account too, the client can share it with your portfolio in Business settings under Instagram accounts.
Can I get Page access without ad account access?
Yes. Tick only Facebook Page when you create the link.
